On Saturday we met up with the Simmerano cousins at an Italian market called 'Eataly' in downtown NYC and had lunch.
Then the group parted ways. With Grandfather Clay heading off to scout out some street carnival he'd heard of, the girls going another direction to go on a shopping spree, and the boys (Charley included) heading to the Hudson River to take a tour of the aircraft carrier US Intrepid.
While Joey, Tommy, and I were waiting in line for the observation deck, Joey made friends with a real live sailor enjoying some free time during FLEET week.
In the meantime, Uncle Rocco got to take care of Charley, who decided to poop up a storm on the top deck of the Intrepid....there's no better way for an uncle to bond with a nephew than to clean poopy diapers on an aircraft carrier.
While Uncle Rock was cleaning poop, I was having fun playing with the giant guns on the ship....Joey and Tommy did too.
Afterwards everyone regrouped for some refreshing ice cream!
Aunt Boo started making faces....
...she can't compete with Cousin Joey though.
Aunt Susanne and Cousin Tommy enjoyed their ice cream.
Later that night we headed to dinner and the play "War Horse" with Grandfather Clay.
We saw Christie Brinkley at this restaurant!
Dad ate this...it was shrimp.
The pics above and below were taken during the intermission of "War Horse" at the Kennedy Center.
While we were out gallavanting around the big city, Charley enjoyed his time at the apartment with a trusted babysitter....who looked at Katey and me funny when we told her to wrap Charley up and lay him in my suitcase at bedtime! Don't worry...we pulled the suitcase out so the flap wouldn't come falling down on him in the middle of the night. He seemed to enjoy it really. It's almost like going camping.
